Poythress to Tacoma, Choi to Join Jackson Generals

Kodak, Tenn - The Seattle Mariners made the following roster moves Monday that affects the Jackson Generals roster. INF Rich Poythress has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma and INF Ji-Man Choi has been activated from A+ High Desert.

POYTHRESS, 25, returns to Tacoma where he began the 2013 season. In 4 games with the Generals Poythress batted .286 (4x14) with 2 home runs and 4 RBI. With Tacoma this season in 37 games Poythress hit .254 with 5 home runs and 18 RBI. Poythress is a career .288 batter and was the Mariners' 2nd round draft pick in 2009 out of the University of Georgia.

CHOI, 22, played in 48 games for the A+ High Desert Mavericks and batted .337 with 24 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs and 40 RBI. He has a .427 on-base percentage. He currently leads the Mariners minor leagues in batting average and is 2nd in RBI. He also ranks 1st in the California League in doubles and extra base hits, and 2nd in average. Choi is a native of Incheon Yuek, South Korea and was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mariners in 2009.

Jackson's roster currently is at 24 players, with 3 on the disabled list.
