Biscuits Fall to BayBears, 3-1

Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (16-10) avoided being shutout for the first time this season, but still fell to the Mobile BayBears (12-14), 3-1, in the second game of a five-game series on Thursday morning at Riverwalk Stadium.

Dalton Moats (1-1) opened for the Biscuits, and after working a scoreless first, ran into trouble when Bo Way smashed a wall-ball double in the second. Julian Leon was the next batter, and the BayBears' catcher clobbered his first home run of the season over the left field wall to put Mobile up 2-0.

Unfortunately for the Biscuits, that was all the BayBears would need, as their starter Matt Ball (1-1) held Montgomery scoreless through six frames, surrendering just five hits, one walk, and six strikeouts en route to the right-hander's first win of the season.

Brandon Marsh, who finished the game 4-for-5, swatted an RBI-double off Sam McWilliams in the sixth to add some insurance. In the ninth, the Biscuits had the makings of a rally when Miles Mastrobuoni stroked an RBI-single into left, but Jermaine Palacios flew out with runners at first and second against Zac Ryan to end the game. The loss snaps the Biscuits streak of six-straight games scoring three runs.

The Biscuits will try to bounce back on Friday night when Kenny Rosenberg (2-1) takes on Jeremy Beasley (1-1) at 6:35 PM CT on what will be Military Appreciation Night and MAX Fireworks at Riverwalk Stadium.

The rest of the series will feature Star Wars Night with a Jersey Auction and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, May 4; and Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Sunday, May 5.
