Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
The West Virginia Power surged ahead on Grant Richardson's first inning two run homerun. Delmarva came right back in the bottom of the first on an Arturo Rivas two-RBI single and an RBI base hit from Juan Gutierrez giving the Shorebirds a 3-2 lead going into the top of the second. The Shorebirds added on to their lead in the third on another Gutierrez RBI single stretching the score to 4-2. The Power came within one in the fourth on a Tony Festa RBI single, and tied it in the fifth on the Hernan Iribarren single, scoring Freddy Parejo. The Shorebirds answered in the home half of the fifth when Jake Duncan lead off the inning with a triple and Jason Fransz followed with a RBI Double to deep center field. Quincy Asencion made a dazzling, game saving, diving catch to end the Power threat in the eighth off the bat of Josh Brady. Trent Baysinger came on in the ninth getting West Virginia in order to earn his second save of the year.
