Hagerstown Suns News Release
Lakewood, NJ:The All-Star break looks like it refreshed the Hagerstown Suns, as they went on to win comfortably, 6-2 at Lakewood in the first game back after a three day layoff. Ryan Coultas and Mike Carp went deep in the win.
Tim Worthington (2-1) got some revenge Thursday night with a nice five inning shutout effort to earn him his second win of the year. Worthington's last outing was a loss here at Lakewood six days ago. Worthington scattered six hits and a walk over his five frames, mixing in five strikeouts. Matt Miramontes worked a scoreless sixth, and Bo Bowman threw a scoreless ninth to seal Worthington's and the Suns' win. Carlos Muniz gave up two runs in two innings wedged in between Miramontes and Bowman.
The Suns moved to 4-3 in the second half and 45-32 overall with the win which dropped Lakewood to 4-3, 29-48. Ryan Coultas had three RBI's including a run scoring double in a three run second for the Suns which gave them a 3-0 lead. Coultas hit his fourth homerun of the season, a two run shot in the fourth, to give the Suns a 5-0 lead at the time. Mike Carp hit his 17th homer, a solo shot, in the fifth, chasing starter and loser Derek Griffith (4-6), who fell to 1-3 versus the Suns this year. The Suns are 11-8 versus Lakewood in 2005.
Friday at 7:05pm is the finale of the two game series in Lakewood and has Rafael Cova (4-3) going against Lakewood's RHP Andy Baldwin (2-5). Both of Baldwin's wins have come against Hagerstown.
