
Big Weekend For Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will play the second and third games of a four-game home-stand when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tomorrow at 7:35 p.m. and the Lowell Lock Monsters this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. However, the two games will be just part of a big weekend.
Steiner Sports will hold a silent auction of sports memorabilia at both of this weekend's games to raise money for "Swim Across the Sound".
The first 2,000 fans who enter tomorrow's game will receive the second of this season's Sound Tigers player card-set giveaways courtesy of Crabtree Auto Park. Jody Robinson, Barrett Heisten, Sean Bergenheim and Bruno Gervais will be featured on the card-set. Tomorrow night will also be "Shelton Family Fun Night" with special ticket prices for Shelton residents and employees of Shelton-based companies.
Saturday will be "Trumbull Family Fun Night" with special ticket prices for Trumbull residents and employees of Trumbull-based companies. In conjunction with News 12 Connecticut and WICC, the Sound Tigers will also hold their annual "Teddy Bear Toss" to benefit WICC's "Holiday Children's Fund" Saturday. Fans are asked to bring a new, stuffed animal to Saturday's game and toss it onto the ice when the Sound Tigers score their first goal.
The Sound Tigers will also team with March of Dimes once again for the third-annual "Bowling For Babies" at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield this Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Fans can bowl with players or in their own teams. Anyone interested in participating in Sunday's "Bowling For Babies" at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield should call 203-334-GOAL.
The Port Jefferson Ferry offers an inclusive ticket and ferry-fare package, as well as special round-trip fares for Long Island fans who will be attending Sound Tigers games in Bridgeport. On all Saturdays and Sundays that the Sound Tigers play at home, the last ferry will also wait until 10 p.m. or a half-hour after the end of the game, whichever is later, to depart for Long Island.
