Worcester Recalls Center, Reassigns Goalie

WORCESTER, MA – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau announced today that the IceCats have recalled center Troy Riddle from their ECHL affiliate, the Peoria (IL) Rivermen. Worcester subsequently loaned goalie Alfie Michaud to Peoria.

Drafted by the St. Louis Blues with their 5th choice, 129th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Riddle has skated in all 14 games with the Rivermen this season. The 23-year old native of Minneapolis, Minnesota is pacing the club with eight assists and 12 overall points: 14(4/8/12). The 5-10, 175 pound centerman won back-to-back NCAA National Championships with the University of Minnesota in 2002 and 2003, assisting on the game-winning goal in 2003. He is a former 2000 USHL Rookie of the Year and Second All-Star Team selection while skating for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League.

Michaud, appeared in just one game for the IceCats during his recall. The 28-year old backstop faced 24 shots, earning a 4-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, November 27th. Prior to his recall, Michaud had appeared in six games for the Rivermen checking in with a record of 2-3-1, a 2.97 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. He was named the 2002-2003 ECHL Goaltender of the Year, accumulating a record of 20-4-4, including a 2.10 GAA and a .927 save percentage while with Peoria.

The IceCats host the Hershey Bears on Friday, and the Providence Bruins on Saturday. Both DCU Center games will have a start time of 7:05 PM. Friday's game will feature our Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss and the debut of our W6 charity jerseys.
