The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled center Derek MacKenzie from the Chicago Wolves.
MacKenzie, who ranks second on the Wolves with eight assists and shares fourth on the club with 12 points, is making his first trip to the National Hockey League since the 2001-02 season. The Sudbury, Ontario, native recorded two penalty minutes in one game with Atlanta on April 12, 2002, against the Columbus Blue Jackets in his NHL debut.
Overall, the 22-year-old forward has registered 31 goals, 38 assists and 69 points in 164 American Hockey League games spanning three seasons (2001 to 2003) with the Wolves.
