Hershey Bears News Release

Steve Brule scored the game winning goal in overtime on a feed from Jordan Krestanovich to give the BEARS a dramatic win in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4-3, preserving a perfect 4-0 road trip. Brule also extends his point streak to five games. Peter Budaj gets the win in net, making 31 of 34 saves, upping his record to 7-4-2.

After a scoreless first period, Shane Willis began the BEARS scoring in exciting fashion, as he was awarded a penalty shot after he was pulled down from behind on a breakaway. Willis beat Penguins goalie, Jean-Sebastien Aubin, to make the score 1-0. The second period belonged to HERSHEY as David Masse would score his first goal at the 13:23 mark. Masse's first goal as a BEAR was assisted by Eric Perrin and Ryan Craig. The BEARS would add a power play goal with 46 seconds remaining in the period when Darren Rumble would get his first goal as a BEAR since 1996. Willis would earn his second point on the night with the assist. HERSHEY was 1-4 on the power play for the game. The BEARS headed into the locker room with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Just as the second period belonged to the BEARS, the Penguins would come out storming in the third. With Martin Brochu now in net, they would rally for three goals to tie the game 3-3. Kris Beech sandwiched two goals around a goal by Michel Ouellet to make things even and force the overtime session.

Each team was guaranteed a point, but HERSHEY would not settle for just one. Steve Brule made sure that the BEARS would go home winners, scoring the overtime goal at 3:45. The win gives the BEARS a 4-0 road trip and they also maintain the best road record in the league at 8-1-1-0. HERSHEY remains the best team in the AHL with a record of 11-3-2-2 good for 26 points.
