LOOKING AHEAD:
Hamilton entertains Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday at Copps Coliseum (7:00 ET, 6:00 CT) after the Bulldogs had a six-game unbeaten streak snapped by St. John's on Wednesday. The Admirals are 3-0-2-1 on the road this season, and their .692 points percentage overall (7-2-3-1) is second-best in the Western Conference. With 15 points in his last seven games, Hamilton's Benoit Gratton is back atop the AHL's scoring race, a position he held last January when an injury cut his 2002-03 regular season short. Rookie Timofei Shishkanov, Nashville's second-round draft pick in 2001, leads Milwaukee with six goals and nine points this year.
Manchester and Binghamton meet for the first time on Friday (7:05 ET) at the Broome County Arena. The Monarchs have earned a point in eight straight (6-0-1-1), led by Pavel Rosa (1+10=11), Steve Kelly (3+8=11), Bryan Muir (4+6=10) and Scott Barney (7+1=8) during that span. Manchester goalie Milan Hnilicka, who won a Calder Cup with Senators head coach John Paddock in Hartford in 2000, is expected to return to the lineup after missing four weeks with a groin injury. The Senators, 5-2-1-2 at the BCA this year, are wrapping up a seven-game homestand that so far has yielded six of a possible 12 points. Denis Hamel, who ranks second in the AHL in scoring, has produced four two-point efforts in his last five outings for the B-Sens.
Rochester hosts Toronto in a North Division battle on Saturday night at the Blue Cross Arena (7:35 ET). Exactly 40 years earlier, on Nov. 22, 1963, the Amerks were scheduled to host the Quebec Aces in the same building when the assassination of President John F. Kennedy prompted the postponement of the two games on the league's schedule that Friday night. Rochester comes into this weekend with a 5-1-1-0 record on home ice, and goaltender Ryan Miller has not allowed more than two goals in any of his 11 starts overall, including a 0.65 GAA and .979 save percentage in three games against the Roadrunners.
