July 6, 2006 - Frontier League (FL)
Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL - Closer Brian Beuning, starter Mike Mlotkowski, and infielder Clemente Bonilla have all been selected to represent the Windy City ThunderBolts at the 2006 Frontier League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 12.
Beuning has led the League in saves for most of the first half of this season, but sits tied for third after Wednesday's action with 10. Beuning has posted a 2.81 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. This is Beuning's second selection after being picked to play for the West as a member of the Kalamazoo Kings in 2005.
Mlotkowski currently holds a 2-2 record and has allowed 15 runs in 47 innings. His 2.68 ERA is ninth best in the Frontier League after his start on Wednesday night. Mlotkowski has also struck out 43 batters, which is third best in the League heading into Thursday's action. This is the first All-Star selection for the 6'6" right-hander from Oklahoma City University.
Bonilla, who has compiled a .297 batting average in 30 games, was selected as a reserve infielder. Bonilla has also been successful in all 16 of his stolen base attempts. Bonilla's 19 walks is a team high statistic. This is the second All-Star selection for Bonilla, who was also tapped for the West last year, but was unable to attend due to injury. Bonilla is currently on injured reserve. His status for this year's All-Star Game is uncertain.
Beuning, Mlotkowski, Bonilla and the rest of the West Division All-Stars take on the East in the 2006 Frontier League All-Star Game. The game takes place on Wednesday, July 12th at Bosse Field in Evansville. First pitch is 7:05pm Central Time. For ticket information, call 812-435-8686 or 1-800-435-8681.
