Six River City Rascals Named to Frontier League All-Star Team
July 6, 2006 - Frontier League (FL)
River City Rascals News Release
CHILLICOTHE, OH - The River City Rascals are pleased to announce that six of their own will represent St. Charles County on the Frontier League West Division All-Star Team. Rascals starters Aaron Ledbetter and Steve Brook were selected for the second straight season and will be joined by first time selections: DH Eddie Kim, INF Mike Cockrell, and OF's Eric Chevalier and Eddie Guessford. The game will take place on July 12, from historic Bosse Field in Evansville, IN.
Ledbetter and Brook have anchored a struggling pitching staff this season. The righthanders both rank in the top-10 in the league in ERA average and share the River City lead in staff wins with three. Ledbetter currently leads the league with four complete games and his 50 strikeouts are good for 2nd in the Frontier League. Brook is 3-0 this season and recently passed Greg Modica for 2nd place on the Rascals all-time wins list.
Though it is still uncertain which pitcher will start for the West Division squad, there is no dispute that the Rascals will have at least two position players starting in the Mid-Summer Classic. Kim was voted in as the DH after hitting five homers and driving in 25 in his first season in the Frontier League. Two members of the River City outfield will also be making the trip to Southwestern Indiana. Chevalier and Guessford were selected and at least one of them will have the opportunity to start the game depending on final selections made by the West Manager, Rockford skipper J.D. Ardnt.
Chevalier's selection is on the strength of his 16 extra-base hits and 28 runs batted in which leads the Rascals. Guessford has turned in a tremendous first half hitting .279 with 11 doubles and 20 RBI.
