
Bes, Special Teams Lead Bucks Past Rayz 6-3

CHL Leading scorer Jeff Bes had a hat trick and an assist on Friday Night, leading the Laredo Bucks past the Corpus Christi -3 at the American Bank Center. The Rayz loss kept them two points behind the idle Amarillo Gorillas for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. The Rayz loss dropped them to 16-25-6 on the year. Corpus Christi will conclude their weekend on Saturday Night at 8:05pm when they host the Odessa Jackalopes. Tickets are available. For more information, please call the Rayz at 361.814.PUCK.
The Rayz and Buks combined for five goals - four on special teams in a wild first period. Geno parrish and Justin Quenneville scored for the Rayz to give them two early one-goal leads, but the Bucks battled back. Goals by Chris Korchinski shorthanded, and Adam Rivet and Jeff Bes tallied power play goals to give the Bucks a 3-2 lead after one.
The teams traded goals in the second period. Bess got his second on a wrist shot from the right circle on a power play, minutes before Rayz rookie Jon Jankus scored shorthanded for corpus Christi to make the score 4-3 Bucks.
In the third period Korchinski added a breakaway goal and Bes got an empty netter to seal the Bucks victory.
The Bucks outshot the Rayz 43-23. Corpus Christi went 1-3 on the power play and Laredo went 3-5. Justin Quenneville have a goal and three assists for Corpus Christi, and Jankus had a goal and assist for a multi-point night.
