Rage Ready for a Pair Against the Sundogs

February 15, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Prescott Valley, Ariz. - It is snowing in Arizona! The Rocky Mountain Rage and Arizona Sundogs will have perfect hockey weather for their two-game set tonight and tomorrow in Prescott Valley, which is not located in the desert, but rather in the state's mountainous region mid-way between Phoenix and Flagstaff.

Rocky Mountain makes its first trip to Arizona this season with a 1-1-1 record in the season series and looking to avenge last Friday's 4-3 loss to the Sundogs at Broomfield Event Center. Arizona is currently in a three-way tie for the Central Hockey League's Southwest Division lead with the New Mexico Scorpions and Odessa Jackalopes.

The Rage will face the 'Dogs without the services of goaltender Scott Reid, who was suspended by the CHL today for two games due to an incident that occurred during Wednesday's loss to the Colorado Eagles. The team has signed goaltender Hugh Boylan, a Broomfield Sports and Entertainment account executive who will only play if fellow netminder Terry Dunbar goes down to injury.

Rocky Mountain begins the weekend still leading the Northwest Division by five points after splitting a two-game home-and-home series with the second-place Eagles earlier this week.

All the play-by-play from Arizona can be heard live on The New ESPN Radio 1600 beginning both tonight and tomorrow at 6:55 p.m. MST with the pre-game show. Live audio and video will also be streamed online via www.rockymountainrage.com.

The Rage then return home on Friday, Feb. 22, when the Oklahoma City Blazers visit Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m.

Single-game tickets for the remainder of the 2007-08 regular season are available with prices ranging from $18 - $43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets at Broomfield Event Center's box office or through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet.

For group ticket information, please call the Rage at (303) 439-RAGE or visit www.rockymountainrage.com.

CHL COACHES POLL - Feb. 15th, 2008

Voting for the CHL Coaches Poll is done by the 17 CHL Head Coaches during the beginning and middle of each month throughout the season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs remained on top of the most recent CHL Coaches Poll despite having their 24-game point streak snapped. The Mudbugs are currently the top team in the CHL, leading the race for the Governors' Cup by five points over Laredo and six points over Rocky Mountain. The Bugs' lead in the Northeast Division is 13 points. Bossier-Shreveport started the season with an 0-5-1 record but has since gone 33-4-3.

There was quite a bit of movement in the most recent poll with the Scorpions making the biggest jump from #9 to #6. New Mexico is currently on a six-game win streak and is part of that three-way tie for first in the Southwest. Three teams moved up one spot (Laredo, Arizona and Youngstown), while the biggest drop came from the Odessa, who fell from #6 to #9. The Texas Brahmas have gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and moved back into the poll at #10. Dropping out were the Oklahoma City Blazers.

The Mudbugs received 15 of the 17 possible first place votes with Rocky Mountain receiving the other two first place votes (teams cannot vote for themselves). The lead for the Mudbugs over the Rage in the poll narrowed to 11 points, down from the 16-point edge they held in the previous poll released on January 31st.
