New Mexico Scorpions News Release

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs remained on top of the most recent CHL Coaches Poll despite having their 24-game point streak snapped. The Mudbugs are currently the top team in the CHL leading the race for the Governors' Cup by five points over Laredo and six points over Rocky Mountain . The Bugs lead in the Northeast Division is 13 points. Bossier-Shreveport started the season with an 0-5-1 record but have since gone 33-4-3. There was quite a bit of movement in the most recent poll with the Scorpions making the biggest move jumping from #9 to #6. New Mexico is currently on a six-game win streak and is part of a three-way tie for first place in the Southwest Division. Three teams moved up one spot (Laredo, Arizona and Youngstown) with the biggest drop coming from Odessa who fell from #6 to #9. The Texas Brahmas have gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and moved back into the poll at #10. Dropping out was the Oklahoma City Blazers.

The Mudbugs received 15 of the 17 possible first place votes with Rocky Mountain receiving the other two first place votes (teams cannot vote for themselves). The lead for the Mudbugs over the Rage in the poll narrowed to an 11 point lead (was 16 points in the previous poll released on January 31st).

Balloting for the CHL Coaches Poll is done by the 17 CHL Head Coaches. The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll is released at the beginning and the middle of each month throughout the season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.
