Rage Lose First of Two in Arizona
February 15, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Prescott Valley, Ariz. - Special teams were the difference as the Rocky Mountain Rage lost the first of a two-game set against the Arizona Sundogs, 4-2, at Tim's Toyota Center.
Both teams ended the game with a pair of power play goals, but Arizona went 2 for 5 with the extra man through the first two periods while Rocky Mountain went scoreless over its first four chances on the way to falling behind, 3-0, through 40 minutes.
The Sundogs then made it a 4-0 game at 8:47 of the third with the teams skating four aside. Little did they know Dusty Collins' tally would serve as an important insurance goal.
The Rage finally clicked on the power play at 11:55 of the final frame when Colt King fed Daymen Rycroft back-door for his league-leading 39th goal of the season. Rocky Mountain then drew two penalties against Arizona, and Scott Wray hammered home a one-timer on the five-on-three at 14:14 to draw the club within 4-2.
The Rage pulled goaltender Terry Dunbar over the final two minutes but never moved any closer as they lost their second straight game to fall to 30-13-4 on the year. The team remains atop the Northwest Division with 64 points, five points ahead of the second-place Colorado Eagles, who also lost tonight on the road, 6-3, to the Wichita Thunder.
Rocky Mountain completes the two-game set against the Sundogs tomorrow night. All the play-by-play action can be heard live on The New ESPN Radio 1600 beginning at 6:55 p.m. MST with the pre-game show. Live audio and video will also be streamed online via www.rockymountainrage.com.
