Bees Fall to Tacoma in Game One

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees fell to the Tacoma Rainiers 9-4 on Saturday night at Smith's Ballpark.
Salt Lake's pitching staff saw its run of 17 consecutive scoreless innings streak snapped in the top of the third from a RBI-double by Braden Bishop as the Rainiers jumped out a 3-0 lead after three innings. . The scoreless innings streak began in the fourth inning on May 23 at Sacramento and was the longest streak for the Bees so far this season. The three runs would be the only damage allowed by Alex Klonowski (0-3) who took the loss despite logging his first quality start of the season.
Mario Sanjur knocked in his first career Triple-A hit RBI in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1. After the Rainiers tacked on one run in the top of the seventh, the Bees responded with two runs of their own in the same frame to make it 4-3. Tacoma was able to score one run off an error by Justin Bour in the eighth, but Bour quickly made up for it with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to make the game 5-4. The Rainiers used an offense surge and plated four runs in the ninth to secure the victory.
The Bees and Rainiers continue the series with a Sunday matinee at Smith's Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
