
Bears Release Goaltender Billy Sauer from Tryout Agreement

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that goaltender Billy Sauer has been released from his professional tryout agreement. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
Sauer, 24, dressed as backup to Dany Sabourin in Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Albany Devils.
He returns to the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL), where he has posted a record of 3-2-2, a save percentage of .917 and a goals-against average of 2.74 in seven appearances. Sauer also saw ECHL action with the Florida Everblades, Gwinnett Gladiators and Greenville Road Warriors this season.
The 6-2, 195-lb. native of Rochester, New York appeared in 15 AHL games with the Lake Erie Monsters in 2009-10, appearing in 15 games and posting a record of 5-7-1. He was originally selected in the seventh round (201st overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
