
Lightning Recall Labrie; Admirals Release Brutlag

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie from the Admirals today, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced. Also, the Admirals have released forward Bryan Brutlag from his Professional Tryout Contract, Norfolk General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Labrie, 25, has played in 49 games with the Admirals this season, recording 13 goals and 32 points to go along with 98 penalty minutes. He ranks first in the AHL with a plus-30 rating. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound forward has played in 304 career AHL games with Norfolk, the Peoria Rivermen and the Manitoba Moose. In those games, he has registered 38 goals and 98 points to go along with 518 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 23 career Calder Cup Playoff games, notching two assists and 43 penalty minutes.
A native of Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Labrie has played in nine games this season with the Lightning, collecting one assist and 15 penalty minutes. He recorded his first career NHL point (assist) with the Lightning on January 21 at Phoenix. An undrafted forward, Labrie was originally signed by the Vancouver Canucks on July 9, 2007. Vancouver traded him to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Yan Stastny on March 3, 2010. He was signed by the Lightning as a free agent on December 29, 2011.
Brutlag, 5-foot-11, 189-pounds, has appeared in four games with the Admirals this season, posting a plus-1 rating. The pro rookie has also appeared in 65 games for the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators this season, posting 20 goals and 46 points with 30 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating.
After setting a new AHL record for most consecutive wins in a single season last weekend, the Admirals return to Virginia this weekend in search of their 19th straight win. They will open a seven-game homestand at Norfolk Scope Arena on Friday and Saturday nights against the Albany Devils.
