Heat at Stars Game Preview
March 19, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Abbotsford Heat News Release
Austin, TX - The Abbotsford Heat close out their nine-day Texas-trip tonight with their season series finale against the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) in Austin. With less than a month and just eleven games remaining in the regular season, the Heat are fighting for playoff positioning, while the Texas Stars find themselves in 15th, looking up at the rest of the Western Conference.
The Heat enter today's game sitting in sixth, just three points out of the final home-ice playoff spot, but just two points up on the final playoff berth. The difference between third and tenth in the conference is just five points. A win for the Heat could push the club past the Peoria Rivermen - who are tied at 73 points with Abbotsford - into fifth place.
The Heat have amassed three of a possible six points to date on their four game swing through the Lone Star State. After tonight's tilt with the Stars the Heat will have just two road games remaining this season, both in Charlotte. Eight of the last ten games of the season will be hosted by Abbotsford at the AESC, with their playoff lives on the line.
Tonight's game begins at 5:30 PDT and can be heard in its entirety on Country 107.1 beginning with the 5:15 pre-game show. The game can be also heard on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
