
Bears defeat Binghamton in a wild one 3-2

86 shots, a shootout and a BEARS victory in Binghamton all part of Friday night's festivities at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
HERSHEY opened the scoring in the first period when Ryan Steeves scored his second goal in as many games at the 4:43 mark. The BEARS ran the score to 2-0 when Martin Wilde scored from center point off a face-off in the Binghamton zone at 12:06 of the first. Binghamton closed to within a goal before first intermission when Brian Pothier scored on the man advantage from Jason Spezza and Antoine Vermette at 15:05. The Senators outshot the BEARS 17-13 in the first, but trailed 2-1 at intermission.
The Senators scored the lone goal of the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Chris Neil scored from former BEARS forward Charlie Stephens at 6:39 of the second to tie the contest. Peter Budaj stopped 17 of 18 Binghamton shots in the period.
After a scoreless third period and overtime, the BEARS won the game in the ninth round of the shootout. Brett Clark scored in the ninth round while Denis Hamel was stopped in the bottom of the ninth round.
The BEARS return to action at GIANT Center on Sunday when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins come to town. Face-off is at 5:00 p.m. Tickets available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.
