Hershey Bears News Release
The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club hits the road for a game in Adirondack Friday before hosting the Albany Devils and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this weekend at Giant Center. The BEARS are coming off back-to-back home losses for the first time this season as the month of March comes to a close this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. HERSHEY holds down second place in the East Division race with three weeks to go.
Tickets for this weekend ¬â¢s games are on sale now at the Giant Center box office, or by calling (717) 534- 3911.
Holtby returns: The Capitals returned goaltender Braden Holtby on loan Saturday from Washington. Holtby, who was the NHL ¬â¢s number one star of the week for the period ending March 14, started both games at Giant Center this past weekend. Before Saturday, Holtby had not played for HERSHEY since winning at Toronto on February 23.
Home ice on the line: The BEARS are looking to nail down home ice advantage in the first round of the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs in the final eight games of the regular season. The top two teams in the East Division will potentially host four home games in the East Division Semi- Finals. HERSHEY holds a seven-point advantage over both Norfolk and Charlotte heading into the final weekend of March, although the Admirals have four games in hand on the Chocolate and White. The BEARS will play two games in Norfolk April 1-2 at Norfolk Scope.
Gordon, Pinizzotto return: Right wings Andrew Gordon and Steve Pinizzotto both returned to the lineup Friday in Springfield against the Falcons. Gordon picked up his 23rd goal of the season Saturday against Portland at Giant Center. Gordon had been out of the lineup since February 5 with an upper body injury. Pinizzotto had been missing from HERSHEY ¬â¢S lineup since suffering a lower body injury March 2.
Closing in on a milestone: Right wing Brian Willsie is one goal away from tying his career high for goals in a single season. He scored 29 for HERSHEY back in 2002-03, and has 28 this season after scoring twice Friday in Springfield against the Falcons.
Practice schedule: HERSHEY will practice Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. prior to departing for Adirondack and Friday ¬â¢s game against the Phantoms.
