
2nd Annual School Day Game on Tuesday

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates will be hosting their second annual School Day Game presented by Irving Oil and the Modern Woodmen of America Tuesday at 11 a.m. when the Worcester Sharks visit the Cumberland County Civic Center.
More than 3,600 students from more than 20 schools (Androscoggin Learning Center, Camden Rockport Middle School, Cathedral School, Deering High School, Gray New Gloucester High School, Lake Region Middle School, Lake Region Vocational School, Lake View School, Lincoln Middle School, Loranger Middle School, Lyman Moore Middle School, Eight Corners Elementary, C.A.F.E. (Choices are for Everyone), East End Community School, Reiche Elementary School, Madison Junior High School, Mount Ararat Middle School, Rivers Alternative School, Sanford Junior High School, Sweetser School, Warren Community School and Windham High School) are scheduled to attend the game, designed to help encourage students to eat healthy and stay active and educated.
Throughout the game students will be introduced to members of the Pirates through video board messages. The players will encourage students to follow along in their activity book and complete assignments based on their message. Additional exercises will include tracking the game, geography and math quizzes in seat activities and more.
The Pirates (43-18-5-2 and winners of three straight) will be looking to clinch a spot in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs against the Sharks (32-26-4-8) tomorrow. A win either in regulation, overtime or a shootout will ensure a post-season position. The UNUM Challenge between the Pirates and the Sharks continues.
