Syracuse, NY (March 21, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the American Hockey League has named Crunch rookie right wing Kyle Palmieri the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 20, 2011. This is the second time Palmieri has earned the honor this season, as he was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 31, 2010, after recording six points (5g, 1a) in three games.

Palmieri collected seven points (6g, 1a), a plus-4 rating and scored the game-winning goal in all three of the Crunch's wins, helping his club to a 3-1-0-0 record in four games last week. He scored the only goal of the game with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation in a 1-0 win over Toronto on Friday, earning second star of the game honors for his effort. Friday's contest proved to just be a warm-up for Palmieri, as he exploded for a season-high four points (3g, 1a), recording his second hat trick of the season in the process and was named the game's first star in a 6-2 win over Charlotte on Saturday.

Palmieri was again named the game's first star after adding two more tallies on Sunday at Giant Center, catapulting the Crunch to their third straight win, a 5-2 victory over Hershey. A native of Smithtown, NY, Palmieri ranks 11th in scoring among AHL rookies with 38 points (20g, 18a) this season and his 20 goals leads the Crunch. In addition, the AHL All-Star leads the club with 12 multiple-point games this season.

The 20-year old Palmieri turned pro after completing his freshman season at the University of Notre Dame (CCHA) in 2009-10, where he recorded 17 points (9g, 8a) in 33 games. Palmieri won a gold medal with the United States at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships and a bronze medal at the 2011 tournament. He was selected by Anaheim in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

In recognition of his achievement, Palmieri will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Crunch home game.
