Shots: Binghamton 23, Adirondack 28

PP: Binghamton 1 for 4, Adirondack 1 for 5

The B-Sens made their final trip to the Glens Falls Civic Center on Wednesday, and perhaps were thankful to do so as they fell to 1-3-0-0 this season when visiting the Phantoms. Roman Wick scored both Binghamton goals, including an unassisted, shorthanded tally. Harry Zolnierczyk scored his first goal as a pro and Cullen Eddy notched his first American Hockey League goal to help the Phantoms to the victory. Barry Brust started in goal for Binghamton stopping 23 of the 27 shots he faced, while his counterpart Michael Leighton stopped 21 of 23.

Friday, March 18: Portland 3, Binghamton 2

Shots: Portland 35, Binghamton 21

PP: Portland 0 for 4, Binghamton 0 for 4

Jim O'Brien scored a pair of goals and Corey Locke added a pair of assists, but it wasn't enough as the Pirates went on to beat the B-Sens, 3-2. Derek Whitmore tallied the game winner with exactly eight minutes remaining in regulation. Mark Parrish and Mark Voakes also scored for Portland. Barry Brust started in goal, making 32 saves. David Leggio, who appeared in one game for the B-Sens during the 2007-08 season, earned the nod in net for the Pirates turning away 19 Binghamton shots.

Saturday, March 19: Springfield 0, Binghamton 2

Shots: Springfield 25, Binghamton 34

PP: Springfield 0 for 4, Binghamton 1 for 5

The B-Sens rebounded from a two game skid Saturday as they shutout the Springfield Falcons 2-0. Corey Locke scored both Binghamton goals. It was the third straight game in which a single B-Sens player recorded both goals for Binghamton, and the fourth straight game in which a single B-Sens player potted a pair of goals. Andre Benoit, Derek Grant, Jim O'Brien and Derek Smith would all earn assists in the match, while Barry Brust stopped all 25 shots he faced to earn his seventh shutout of the season, moving him into a tie with Kelly Guard for second place on the Binghamton Senators list of all-time leaders in shutouts.

Sunday, March 20: Binghamton 4, Bridgeport 3 - OT

Shots: Binghamton 35, Bridgeport 30

PP: Binghamton 2 for 8, Bridgeport 0 for 4

Ryan Keller registered a goal and an assist, while Ryan Potulny earned his first two points in a B-Sens uniform adding a goal and an assist of his own in the B-Sens 4-3 overtime win over the Sound Tigers. David Ullstrom scored for Bridgeport with less than a minute in regulation to force the overtime period, but Kaspars Daugavins won the game for the B-Sens with just 47 seconds remaining in extra time. Barry Brust tended goal for the fourth game in five nights, stopping 27 shots on 30 attempts.

Record: 36-27-3-4

Standings: The B-Sens are in fifth place in the East Division (79 points).

THIS WEEK...

Wednesday, March 23 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks)

The B-Sens welcome the Syracuse Crunch to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the fourth and final time this season on Wednesday night. The B-Sens have won five straight games against the Crunch and are currently 5-1-0-0 against them on the season. Additionally the B-Sens have outscored the Crunch 30 to 10 over the course of the six games played thus far in their eight game regular season series. The Crunch enter the week with a record of 7-3-0-0 in their last ten games. The American Hockey League announced earlier today that Crunch right wing Kyle Palmieri has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 20. Palmieri recorded six goals and one assist in four games, including the first three game-winning goals of his pro career. Former Binghamton Senators tough guy Brian McGrattan is expected to return to the Syracuse line-up on Wednesday after serving a one-game suspension on Sunday.

Friday, March 25 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins)

The Binghamton Senators will conclude an eight game season series against the league-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Friday. The B-Sens hold an edge over the Pens, posting a 4-2-0-1 record against them through seven games played against the I-81 rival this season. Binghamton has also won all three games played against the Penguins on Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena ice, outscoring Wilkes-Barre 11 to 4 over the course of those games. The Pens clinched a berth in the 2011 Calder Cup playoffs for the ninth consecutive season on Saturday with a 5-3 victory over the Atlantic Division's Worcester Sharks. Goaltender Brad Thiessen leads his AHL peers in goals-against average (1.91) and wins (31). Thiessen is tied with Barry Brust for the league lead in shutouts with seven.

Promotions: Friday night the B-Sens will induct the 2011 class into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in a special pre-game ceremony. The 2011 inductees will be announced in a formal press release this week.

Saturday, March 26 vs. Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins)

The B-Sens will wrap up a two game season series against the Providence Bruins as the Atlantic Division foe hits the ice at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena this Saturday. Binghamton took the first game against the Bruins back on Jan. 9 by a score of 5-3. Six different Binghamton Senators registered a pair of points in the January contest: Andre Benoit (one goal, one assist), Erik Condra (two assists), Kaspars Daugavins (two assists), David Dziurzynski (two goals), Corey Locke (one goal, one assist) and Jim O'Brien (two assists). The Bruins are 31-33-3-3 and rank fifth overall in the Atlantic with 68 points. Jamie Arniel leads all Bruins in points with 43 (19+2443) through 69 games played.

Promotions: The Broome Sports Foundation will award the 2011 Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship to 11 local student athletes in a special pre-game ceremony on Saturday. This year the Broome Sports Foundation will surpass $100,000 in scholarship money awarded to local student athletes to help further their education.

Sunday, March 27 @ Springfield Falcons (Columbus Blue Jackets)

The Binghamton Senators travel to Springfield on Sunday to visit the Falcons in the second of two meetings between the teams in just a little over a week. The Falcons are 30-36-2-3, resting in sixth place in the Atlantic Division with 65 points. Springfield enters the week in the midst a slump that has seen the team fall to 0-9-1-0 over the course of their last ten games. The Falcons hope the additions of goaltender Paul Dainton and forward Wade MacLeod on amateur tryout agreements will help bolster their roster. Dainton recently completed his senior season at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where he posted a record of 6-18-5 with 3.06 goals against average and .908 save percentage. MacLeod recently completed his senior season with the Northeastern University Huskies where he registered 45 points (22+2345) in 38 games.

SENS SNIPPETS...

Corey Locke earned the B-Sens nomination for Reebok/AHL Player of the Week as he recorded five points in four games last week (2+35). He assisted on both of Jim O'Brien's goals in Friday's 3-2 loss to Portland. Locke also tallied a pair of goals, earning first star honors, as the B-Sens downed the Springfield Falcons 2-0 on Saturday. The Toronto native now has points in five of his last six games. He continues to lead the league in scoring (20+6080), assists (60) and power play assists (30). Locke enters the week just five points shy of his career best of 85 points (achieved with Hartford during the 2009-10 season).

B-Sens captain Ryan Keller appeared in his 200th career American Hockey League game on Wednesday in Glens Falls as the B-Sens fell to the Adirondack Phantoms, 5-2. Keller is tied for fourth on the B-Sens list of all-time leaders in goal (62), ranks fifth all-time in power play goals (23) and is tied for seventh all-time in game-winning goals (seven).

B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY...

The Binghamton Senators will host the first annual Make-A-Wish Cup this Wednesday as they face the Syracuse Crunch at 7:05 p.m. During the meeting the East Division rivals will partner to raise funds and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, which serves both the greater Binghamton and Syracuse regions.

As part of the festivities, the Binghamton Senators will present a cake during the first intermission that was created specially for the event by Charm City Cakes, the Baltimore bakery made famous on the Food Network's Ace of Cakes. Following the first intermission presentation, fans who visit the display on the main concourse of the arena can "purchase" a slice of the cake (while it lasts) by making a donation of $5 or more to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. Also a special fondant Binghamton Senators logo will be packaged with instructions on how to preserve the fondant and a letter of authenticy then auctioned off post-game with proceeds benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York.

Tickets to the game will be available for $15. $2.50 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. Fans who wish to purchase tickets may contact Jason Camp at the Binghamton Senators executive offices at 607-722-7367.
