Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will continue their six-game road trip this week, playing the final three games of their road-stand against Rockford, Chicago and Peoria. The first of three match-ups will be at the Rockford MetroCentre to face the Rockford IceHogs (AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks) on Friday, March 25th at 8:05 P.M. Following Fridays game Hamilton will make a stop in Chicago to take on the Wolves (AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers). Puck-drop will be at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 26th. The Bulldogs third game in three nights will be against the Peoria Rivermen (AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues), which will take place on Sunday, March 26th at 5:05 P.M.

Hamilton began their week against North Division rivals the Rochester Americans. A hard fought battle by both teams saw the game scoreless after two frames. It wasn't until Andrew Conboy scored at 14:04 of the third period that gave the contest its first goal of the game. Rochester's attempt to equalize was only at their demise as they surrendered an empty net goal to Alexander Avtsin giving the `Dogs a 2-0 victory. Following Wednesday's tilt Hamilton travelled to Abbotsford to take on the Heat in back-to-back games. In the first match-up Hamilton's Dustin Boyd took the opening goal of the game giving them a 1-0 lead. The advantage didn't last long as Abbotsford scored the tying goal, less than a minute later when John Armstrong scored for the Heat levelling the score at 1-1. To open up the second period Mathieu Carle notched a power-play goal handing Hamilton their second lead of the game. Before the middle frame ended Abbotsford was able to tie the game at two. Drew MacIntyre made 41 saves but it was not enough to seal a victory for the `Dogs as they lost the contest 3-2 as the Heat scored a goal with 45 seconds remaining in the game. In the second of back-to-back games versus Abbotsford the `Dogs were held off the scoresheet. Greg Nemisz and Gaelan Patterson scored for the Heat giving them a 2-0 victory over Hamilton.
