
Beach Bums Claim Series with Extra Inning Win

Traverse City,MI-The Traverse City Beach Bums extended their lead over the Florence Freedom in the Frontier League East with a 4-3 win Tuesday night at Wuerfal Park in ten innings. The Beach Bums now lead the Freedom by four games in the standings.
The Freedom took a 2-0 lead in the fourth as Jacob Tanis scored on a throwing error by Marcus Nidiffer and Bobby Joe Tannehill doubled down the right field line scoring Byron Wiley. In the seventh, Aljay Davis singled through the left side scoring Tannehill to give the Freedom a 3-0 cushion.
Traverse City scored twice against Freedom starter Dan Jensen in the seventh. With one out, Sean Gusrang bounced one over the pitcher's mound. Shortstop Junior Arrojo's throw pulled Jeremy Hamilton off the first base bag, allowing him to reach on Arrojo's error. Nidiffer then doubled home Gusrang to make it 3-1. Ryan Still followed with a SAC Fly to make it a 3-2 game. Jenson pitched well taking a no decision as he pitched 7 innings allowing hits on two runs(both unearned) while matching a season high with six strikeouts.
The Beach Bums would tie the game against Freedom reliever Brandon Mathes in the eighth inning. Carlo Testa singled into left field scoring Taylor Wrenn.
In the tenth, Wrenn opened up the inning by being hit by a pitch by Freedom closer Jorge Marban. Marban(2-2) was able to get two outs in the inning, but with runners at first and second, Zach Komentani singled into right field scoring Wrenn to give Traverse City the victory.
Nick Capito was the winning pitcher throwing three innings out of the Beach Bum bullpen while Marban took the loss for the Freedom.
The Freedom return home for a three game series Wednesday night with the Normal CornBelters. The CornBelters will have RHP Jose Trinidad (4-3, 3.69) as the Freedom will send RHP Aaron Wilkerson(0-0 4.50) to the mound. The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki and Jake Meyer starting at 6:20 pm on radio station 1320 AM and gospel1320.com.
