Beach Bums Fall to Greys in Series Opener

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums and Frontier Greys engaged in a pitchers' duel through nine innings, before the Greys plated four unearned runs in the top of the tenth, upending the Beach Bums 7-2 on Wednesday night.

Traverse City was first to score as Zach Kometani drove a two-run homerun over the left field wall putting the Beach Bums ahead in the 2nd inning.

That lead would last until only the 4th inning when J.J. Muse followed up with a two-run homerun of his own.

Beach Bums pitching settled in after the runs as combined Mike Devine and Matt Miller helped retire 17 of the next 18 batters bringing the game into the tenth inning for the second straight night.

The Greys took control of the game in the tenth scoring five runs all unearned due to two defensive miscues by the Beach Bums.

The Beach Bums and Frontier Greys will match up again Thursday evening. It is Thirsty Thursday at Wuerfel Park presented by Faygo, Northwoods Soda & Syrup Co., Bell's Inspired Brewing and H. Cox & Son. Thirsty Thursday features $1 off all drinks at the ballpark. Jacob Clem (5-5, 4.78) will take the mound for Traverse City against the Greys' Joe Zeller (6-6, 3.87).
