Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Nashville, Tenn. - After a day off Monday, the Oklahoma City Dodgers showed no signs of rust or slowing down at the plate Tuesday night, piling up 16 runs, 19 hits and launching five homers during a 16-1 rout over the Nashville Sounds at First Tennessee Park.

Tuesday marked the fourth time in five games and fifth time in seven games the Dodgers scored at least 10 runs. During the team's current five-game win streak, the Dodgers have totaled 66 runs, 72 hits and 24 home runs.

The 15-run margin of victory was the OKC's largest of the season and was just the seventh time in the team's modern PCL history (since 1998) OKC won a game by 15 or more runs.

The Dodgers (47-54) got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in their first at-bat. Each of the first three batters walked before DJ Peters stroked a two-run single up the middle to give OKC a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Kyle Garlick hit a two-run homer to center field to make it 4-0.

Fresh off his PCL Player of the Week award, Gavin Lux connected on a two-run homer off the bottom of the batter's eye in the second inning. Will Smith followed with a line drive solo shot to right-center field, as the back-to-back homers extended the lead to 7-0.

The Dodgers piled on six more runs in the sixth inning. Garlick roped a RBI single with the bases loaded, keeping the bases full. Zach Reks followed with a grand slam to right-center field for his second grand slam of the season and the team's third in one week.

Connor Joe then tripled and scored on a RBI single by Jake Peter to put OKC ahead, 14-0.

Nashville (42-59) got on the board in the seventh inning when Patrick Wisdom hit a solo home run.

The Dodgers responded with two runs in the eighth inning. Peter picked up his third hit with a RBI double, and Lux delivered a RBI single.

Six Dodgers finished with multi-hit games. Garlick led all players with four hits to go along with three RBI and three runs. Joe and Peter - batting out of the eight and ninth spots of the batting order - tallied three hits each and combined to go 6-for-11. Five players finished with two or more RBI, as the team combined to go 8-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

On the mound, starting pitcher Dustin May kept the Sounds scoreless over his six innings, resulting in his longest start since he was promoted to Triple-A. May (2-0) limited Nashville to three hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Only two Sounds reached scoring position and none advanced to third base.

Jaime Schultz, Stetson Allie and Josh Sborz combined to throw the final three innings, allowing one run and two hits with six strikeouts.

Nashville starting pitcher Austin Bibens-Dirkx (0-3) was roughed up for eight runs and nine hits, including four home runs, over five innings in the loss. He issued four walks against three strikeouts, as the Nashville pitching staff finished with seven walks and only four strikeouts.

The Dodgers continue their series in Nashville at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. Live radio coverage of each game begins 15 minutes before first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com and through the free iHeartRadio or MiLB First Pitch apps.
