Wes Benjamin: 25-year-old Wes Benjamin starts for the Sounds tonight. The left-hander is making his 20th appearance (19th start) of the season and is 4-5 with a 6.37 ERA while covering 89.0 innings. Benjamin has yielded 108 hits and 42 walks to go with his 74 strikeouts. His last outing was on July 18 in a start against San Antonio. He limited the Mission to 2 runs on 7 hits over 5.1 innings and got a no-decision. Benjamin spent the majority of his 2018 season with Double-A Frisco where he went 5-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 15 starts. The southpaw spent nearly two months on the disabled list from June 7-July 31 with a left elbow strain. Despite missing time, Benjamin led the Frisco staff in wins and ranked among team leaders in strikeouts (3rd), starts (T3rd) and innings (4th). In his minor league career, Benjamin is 25-23 with a 4.30 ERA while covering 81 games (77 starts). The Rangers drafted the Illinois native in the 5th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Kansas University.

Stewart vs. Nashville: Brock Stewart has pitched against Nashville twice in 2019. He started against the Sounds on May 8 in Oklahoma City and was tagged with the loss and he started against the Sounds at First Tennessee Park on July 3 and got another loss. In 5.0 innings against Nashville, Stewart has allowed 19 runs on 18 hits. Pacific Coast League opponents are hitting only .233 against him. Prior the break, Benjamin was 4-5 with a 6.84 ERA (77.2 IP/59 ER). He allowed 98 hits and 38 walks while PCL opponents hit .312 against him in the first half.

There Will be Runs: Nashville and Oklahoma City have played nine times in 2019 and have hit the 10-plus run mark in seven contests. The only two times the teams didn't score at least 10 combined runs were wins by Nashville on May 7 (4-2) and July 1 (4-3). In the nine games, Nashville is hitting .299 with 27 extra-base hits and an OPS of .820. Oklahoma City is hitting .305 with 44 extra-base hits and a .961 OPS.

Words of Wisdom: Infielder Patrick Wisdom has homered in three straight games and his 18 on the season - 2nd-most on the team to only Matt Davidson's 23. Since June 18, Wisdom has played in 27 games and is tied for first in the Pacific Coast League with 12 home runs (Sacramento's Zach Green and Salt Lake's Jared Walsh). In his first 44 games, Wisdom had 6 home runs.

Bounce Back Games: Yesterday marked the fifth double-digit run loss by the Sounds in 2019. In their next game following a loss of 10+ runs, Nashville is 2-2. Following a 19-5 loss at Iowa on April 28, Nashville beat Omaha 5-4 on April 29. After dropping a 17-2 decision to Memphis on May 3, they lost to the Redbirds 11-2 on May 5. The third double-digit loss was a 10-0 setback to Memphis on May 22 and the Sounds followed on May 23 with an 8-5 win. Prior to last night's loss, Nashville lost an 11-1 decision in San Antonio on July 15 and followed the next day with a 6-5 loss.
