Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (6-6) knocked around the Toledo Mud Hens (7-5) for a season-high 16 hits as the Bats cruised to a 6-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon in Toledo.
Louisville struck first with two runs in the second inning. Right fielder Steve Selsky and left fielder Bryson Smith led off the frame with back-to-back singles and were driven home on a two-run single by second baseman Jermaine Curtis.
Toledo responded with a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second but Louisville came back with two more runs in the top of the fifth to make it a 4-1 game.
In the fifth, Bats designated hitter Josh Satin singled with one out and moved to third when first baseman Chris Dominguez followed with a double. Selsky knocked in Satin with an RBI single and Smith plated Dominguez on a fielders' choice groundout.
Both teams scored a run in the sixth as Satin doubled home a run for the Bats and Toledo first baseman Jordan Lennerton hit a solo homer to center to make it a 5-2 game.
Bats shortstop Eugenio Suarez capped the Bats' offensive effort with a solo home run in the top of the eighth, pushing Louisville to its final 6-2 advantage.
Righty Jon Moscot (W, 2-0, 1.54) started the game for Louisville and allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk in six innings pitched with six strikeouts.
Southpaw Kyle Ryan (L, 0-2, 4.02) started for Toledo and was knocked around for four earned runs on 12 hits and a walk while striking out three in five innings of work.
Bats catcher Ramon Cabrera (2-for-3), Curtis (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Satin (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Selsky (4-for-5, 1 RBI) and Suarez (2-for-5, 1 RBI, HR) all had multi-hit games for Louisville. Selsky's four-hit game was the first four-hit game by a Bat in 2015.
For Toledo, three players, shortstop Dixon Machado (2-for-4), Lennerton (3-for-4, 1 RBI, HR) and catcher Manny Pina (3-for-4), combined to collect all eight of the Mud Hens hits.
Louisville will travel to Columbus to face the Clippers at 6:35 tomorrow. Right-hander Dylan Axelrod will toe the rubber for Louisville as righty Shaun Marcum will take the mound for Columbus.
