Bats Non-existent Again in 5-1 Loss
June 22, 2007 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release
After registering at least three hits in all 69 first half games, the Keys were held under the total for a second straight night in Wilmington, tabulating just two hits in a 5-1 loss at Frawley Stadium.
Keys RF Arturo Rivas doubled home SS Blake Davis just three batters into the game to give Frederick a 1-0 lead. It appeared the Keys had put the series opener's one-hitter behind them. But that was not the case. 3B Ryan Finan's sixth inning single would be their only other hit.
Frederick starter Carlos Perez (5-6) was excellent, tossing a season high 7 and 1/3rd innings. Perez allowed four runs, although two of those scored after he had exited. He struck out five batters and issued one intentional walk.
The Keys will look to break out of their funk at the plate against the Carolina League's starting pitcher in the All-Star Game, Rowdy Hardy in the series finale on Saturday.
The game can be heard on Vegas Radio 1520-AM in Frederick. Airtime is at 5:50 p.m. for the Keys Pre-Game Show.
Frederick Keys Playoff Tickets go on sale Wednesday June 27th when the Keys take on the Kinston Indians at Harry Grove Stadium.
