THE HILLCATS...continue a six-game homestand with the second of three games against the Kinston Indians at Lynchburg City Stadium...Never led in dropping the opening game of the second half by a score of 10-4 last night...In defeat, have now lost a season-high eight consecutive games...Over a longer stretch, have lost 15 of their last 17 games...Are hitting .253 as a team (5th in the CL) and have posted a collective 4.73 ERA (7th in the CL)...

THE INDIANS...Won the Southern Division first-half crown and have reeled off 19 wins in their last 22 games played...At 46-24, own the best overall record in the Carolina League...Had the following 4 players on the CL All-Star roster: C Max Ramirez, INF Chris Giminez, RHP Frank Herrmann and RHP James Deters...Currently lead the league in both team pitching with a 3.18 collective ERA and team batting with a .273 overall average...

2007 vs. KINSTON: The Indians have dominated the season series to date, holding a 9-3 edge...Kinston captured the 2006 season series, 12 games to 8...Overall, the Hillcats have an edge in the lifetime series 126-122 (.508) and have posted an impressive 69-52 (.570) mark in 121 all-time match-ups at Lynchburg City Stadium...

INJURIES ADDING UP: RHP Clayton Hamilton and INF Jason Delaney both left the game early due to injuries sustained in the contest last night...Hamilton was hit in the foot by a batted ball and left with just two outs recorded in the first inning...Delaney was hit by a pitch in the back of the neck in the third inning by RHP Kevin Dixon...He currently leads the league in both batting average (.343) and on-base % (.429)...

JUNE SWOON: With the change of the calendar month, the Hillcats have gone just 2-15 (.118)...In May, the Cats posted an 18-13 (.581) record to move into sole possession of first place...The fewest victories the Cats have ever posted in a calendar month (other than September) is 7, back in June of 2000...
