Bats Drop Third Straight to Mud Hens, 4-1

TOLEDO, Oh - The Louisville Bats (63-76) drop their third straight loss to the Toledo Mud Hens (58-81), 4-1. The Bats are now 9-10 against the Mud Hens this season and will finish the series tomorrow night.

The Mud Hens jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after an RBI double in the second and a solo home run from Jefry Marte in the fourth inning.

The Bats came back to cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth with a solo shot from Juan Silva, his second of the season, but Mud Hens Steven Moya put up another run in the home half with an RBI double that made it a 3-1 ballgame.

Mike Hessman pushed across the final run of the game for the Mud Hens with his second RBI double of the game. The former Bat went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk as Toledo won 4-1.

Right-hander Warwick Saupold (W, 1-2, 5.65) exited the game after five innings, he gave up three hits, one earned run, eight strikeouts and one home run. Jeff Ferrell came on to get his fourth save and close out the game.

Left-hander David Holmberg (L, 7-7, 4.45) went five innings in his first appearance back with the Bats. He gave up five hits, three earned runs, walked two, struck out three, and gave up a home run.

Tomorrow the Bats will complete their last game on their away schedule, starting at 6:30 p.m. Righty Josh Smith (3-5, 3.83) will start on the bump for the Bats and for the Mud Hens, righty Thad Weber (6-10, 4.15).
