LOUISVILLE, Ky - Louisville Bats (51-55) left-hander John Lamb; acquired from the Kansas City Royals in the Johnny Cueto trade, had a rough first inning before turning it on and striking out eight in his Bats debut against the Charlotte Knights (59-47). The Bats fell short 6-2 to the Knights.
The Knights brought home three runs in the first inning after Lamb issued a leadoff walk. The runs came from an RBI double, a sacrifice fly and an RBI triple.
After the first inning, Lamb (L, 0-1, 5.40) started to find his groove and struck out eight batters through five innings, striking out the side in the third. Lamb gave up six hits, three earned runs, and walked three to go along with the eight strikeouts in his Bats debut.
The Bats drove in their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth after Irving Falu doubled and Josh Satin brought him around with an RBI single.
Louisville inched closer in the fifth inning with a Chris Dominguez solo shot to put the Bats within a run.
