LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats began a seven-game homestand with a 4-1 win over the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Monday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Right-hander Daniel Wright (1-0, 1.32) threw a complete game, and early runs behind him were enough to beat the RailRiders.

In the second inning, the RailRiders got on the board with a first baseman Nick Swisher single along with an error that led to second baseman Rob Refsnyder scoring from second. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bats responded with a run of their own as right fielder Kyle Waldrop drove in first baseman Steve Selsky with a single to left field.

The Bats offense was back in the third inning and plated two runs on three hits. The Bats first hit of the inning came from shortstop Hernan Iribarren, his 13th straight game with a hit. Iribarren along with designated hitter Jermaine Curtis were hit home by a center fielder Scott Schebler double giving the Bats a 3-1 lead.

Wright finished the night after throwing nine innings, giving up 3 hits, allowing zero runs and striking out eight batters.

The bottom of the fifth inning saw the Bats tacking onto their lead when Selsky's RBI groundout sent home Iribarren.

RailRiders left-hander Richard Bleier (1-2, 3.10) took the loss after pitching seven innings, giving up nine hits and four earned runs.

Tomorrow at 7:05 p.m., the Bats and RailRiders will be back at it for game two as right hander A.J. Morris (0-1, 3.38) will go for Louisville, with righty Brady Lail (1-0, 3.72) expected to go for Scranton Wilkes-Barre.
