Baseball's Top Prospect, 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Scheduled to be Promoted to Buffalo Bisons Tuesday
July 28, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is scheduled to be promoted to the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday, July 31 during the Herd's five-game in four-day series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Field.
The Bisons homestand against the IronPigs begins on Monday, July 30 (7:05 p.m.) with Guerrero Jr. scheduled to join the Herd for Tuesday, July 31's game at 7:05 p.m. The two teams will then play a single-admission doubleheader on Wednesday, August 1 (Game 1 5:35 p.m.) and a matinee game on Thursday, August 2 (1:05 p.m.).
The 19-year old Guerrero is the #1 prospect in Minor League Baseball according to both Baseball America and MLB.com. While playing for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, he has dominated Eastern League pitching despite being the youngest player in all of Double-A baseball. In 61 games, the E.L. All-Star has averaged .402 with 19 doubles, 14 home runs and 60 RBI. If Guerrero had just 10 more plate appearances (he missed a little over a month on the disabled list), his average would qualify and be 45 points higher than any hitter in Minor League Baseball. His .671 slugging pct. would also top all minor league hitters by an astounding 54 points.
