Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the third game of a five-game in three-day series at Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). This lengthy series is needed because of a pair of postponements in Buffalo to begin the season. Indy struck first by sweeping both games of last night's doubleheader. Buffalo is just 1-5 on its current roadtrip.

Last Games: IND 4-3 and 6-3

The Bisons dropped a pair to Indy last night despite leading in both contests. RHP Murphy Smith allowed just one run in five innings in game one before the Indians scored three times in the sixth for the 4-3 win. Indy then scored three in the sixth and seventh innings in a 6-3 game two win to erase an early 3-0 Herd lead.

Indianapolis (1-3)

The Bisons and Indians are meeting for the only time at Victory Field this regular season. The two teams split a weather-shortened series in Buffalo during the Herd's opening homestand of the season. The final two games of the series were postponed, and are being made up in the Circle City this weekend.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to join the Herd

The Blue Jays announced Saturday that 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be promoted to the Bisons on Tuesday for his Triple-A debut. The top prospect in baseball according to both MLB.com and Baseball America, Guerrero hit .402 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 61 games for New Hampshire despite being the youngest player at Double-A. If he had 10 more plate appearances, his .671 slugging pct. would qualify as 54 points better than any other player in the minor leagues.

Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton

RHP Brandon Cumpton gets tonight's start for the Bisons. The righty last worked on July 21 when he allowed six runs in three innings in a defeat to Durham. Cumpton started in the Herd's pen after joining the team on July 5 and is making just his third start of the season today.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis has reached base safely in 11 of his 13 games with the Bisons since joining the team from New Hampshire (AA). The outfielder has averaged .308 with five doubles and eight RBI, hitting .444 (8-18) with runners in scoring position.

Dalton Pompey

OF Dalton Pompey has a hit in five of his last six games, averaging .333 (7-21) with four runs scored since July 22. He also stole his eighth bag of the year last night and has only been caught once in nine tries.

Bisons Bits.

RHP Danny Barnes joined the Bisons on Friday night on MLB injury rehab...With 103 stolen bases, the Herd has 19 more steals than any other club in the IL... All Star catcher Danny Jansen ranks 2nd in the IL with his .394 on-base pct. He has been hit by a pitch 13 times, tied with Lehigh Valley's Dean Anna for the most in the circuit.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (47-55) hit five home runs in ending their three-game skid with a 10-5 victory in Chicago. Former Bisons' INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two of the home runs for his first multi-homer game in the Majors. RHP Marcus Stroman allowed two runs in 6.2 innings for the win. Toronto takes on the White Sox again tonight at 6:10 p.m.
