Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Robert Baco made his presence felt at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship on Wednesday.

The Moose Jaw Warriors forward scored for Team Slovakia in a 6-3 upset win over Team USA in Moncton, NB.

Baco broke down the wing and snapped home a shot for his first goal at the World Juniors, giving Slovakia a 3-2 lead in the second period, which they wouldn't surrender.

Slovakia led 4-2 by the end of the second and cruised to the victory over the favoured Americans.

Baco was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for cross-checking in the final seconds of the game.

Slovakia is now 1-1 and sits in third place in Group B with three points. They return to the ice on Friday to take on Latvia and then finish the round robin against Switzerland on Saturday.

On Thursday at the World Juniors, Martin Rysavy and Team Czechia look to win their third straight as they battle Sweden at 12:30 p.m. CST.
