Harrisburg Senators News Release
Bowie, MD - RHP Adrian Alaniz was tremendous in his Double-A debut, firing six shutout innings in a no-decision as the Harrisburg Senators held on to top the Bowie Baysox, 4-3. Luke Montz and Luis Jimenez hit back-to-back home runs in the 8th inning to give the Senators a lead they would never relinquish.
The Senators got on the board in the top of the 1st. Marco Yepez reached on a one-out error and Roger Bernadina followed with a single. Two batters later, Jimenez stroked a two-out RBI single to put Harrisburg up, 1-0.
Alaniz kept the Baysox off the board through six innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out two.
Bowie took the lead in the bottom of the 7th against reliever Josh Perrault. With the bases loaded and one out, Sebastien Boucher hit a grounder to second base. The second baseman threw out Boucher at first with the tying run scoring. Another runner got hung up between first and second, and during a rundown, the runner broke for home and the throw was wild, making it 2-1 Baysox.
Harrisburg came right back with back-to-back homers in the top of the 8th to take the lead. Mike Daniel led off the inning with a single and moved to third with two out. Bowie called on closer Julio Manon to face Montz with the tying run 90 feet away, and Montz deposited the first pitch over the center-field wall to give the Senators a 3-2 lead. Jimenez followed with another bomb to center to expand the lead to 4-2.
The Baysox plated a run in the bottom of the 8th. With two out and a runner at 2nd, Ofilio Castro made a diving stop at shortstop and threw to first, but the throw was low and the first baseman couldn't scoop it. The runner came around to score and cut the lead to 4-3.
Despite struggling, Perrault (3-1) notched the win. RHP Beltran Perez worked 1.2 scoreless innings to pick up his second save of the year. Manon (1-3) took the loss.
The Senators improved to 37-29. The Baysox dropped to 40-27.
The series continues Sunday in a 2:05 first pitch. Harrisburg sends LHP Mike Hinckley (2-1, 5.08 ERA) to the mound against Bowie RHP David Hernandez (4-1, 3.36 ERA).
