Binghamton Senators News Release
ALBANY, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators travelled to Albany today where they met the Devils for the second straight night. Coming off a 5-3 win on home ice last night that put an end to a three game losing streak, the B-Sens carried that momentum into this evening's road game toppling the Devils, 5-0.
Fredrik Claesson kicked things off for the B-Sens cashing in on a shorthanded opportunity with the help of Corey Cowick at 13:46 of the opening period.
The B-Sens kept things rolling in the second as Dustin Gazley scored on the power play at the 4:05 mark. Hugh Jessiman and Brett Lebda combined for the assists on Gazley's tally. Mark Stone then put the B-Sens up 3-0 at 15:53 after tossing one in courtesy of Lebda and David Dziurzynski.
The B-Sens maintained control as Buddy Robinson fired one in the Albany net just 13 seconds into the third. Stone and Jessiman assisted on the tally - Robinson's first as a pro. Cowick would put the exclamation point on the game as he put Binghamton on top 5-0 with just 1:49 remaining in the game.
Nathan Lawson made his second straight start in net for the B-Sens and turned aside all 35 Albany shots to earn his 12th win, and second shutout, of the season. Scott Wedgewood tended goal for the Devils stopping 29 of 34 Binghamton shots.
The B-Sens see action again tomorrow as they travel to Glens Falls where they will face the Adirondack Phantoms. Game time is 3 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 15 minutes before game time as Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens, hosts the Countdown to Faceoff. Fans are also encouraged to follow @BSens_Hockey on Twitter for live game updates.
