LAST GAME: The B-Mets fell to Altoona, 5-2, Wednesday night. TJ Rivera hit his third home run of the series, while LJ Mazzilli and Jared King each added two hits. Robert Gsellman took the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) in five innings. The two teams have split the opening two games of the series.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Rainy Lara is making his 15th start with Binghamton this season and the first of his career against Altoona. Altoona is the final EL team for Lara to face in his Double-A career. He's coming off an outing against Bowie, in which he allowed a season-high four runs on a season-high nine hits in the losing effort. He has surrendered nine hits in two of his last three starts.

ALTOONA STARTER: RHP Matt Benedict is making his 19th appearance of the season and 13th start. Each of his last two outings have been starts, coming off a shutout victory in New Britain. He allowed five Rock Cat hits over seven innings, his best start of the year. It was Benedict's first win since July 8th. It's his first appearance against Binghamton this season after making two relief appearances against the B-Mets last year.

VS. ALTOONA: The B-Mets are in a stretch of playing seven of their final 29 games against Altoona. This is their last visit to Peoples Natural Gas Field. The B-Mets are 2-3 against Altoona this season.

DEFENSE WINS?: These two teams have committed the most errors in the league, including seven between the two of them in this series. Yet, that hasn't stopped the clubs from getting out to a combined 124-106 record this season. Binghamton's 117 errors are only bested by Altoona's 139. Binghamton has five errors in their last two games.

COSTLY CECCHINI: Gavin Cecchini has committed 27 errors, the most for any EL shortstop, that have led to 20 unearned runs. The rest of the team has committed 90 errors, leading to 38 unearned runs. Robert Gsellman has allowed 11 runs over his last five starts combined, with just two of them being earned.

WELCOME BACK: TJ Rivera has hit three home runs in his last six at-bats, after going 290 at-bats without a Double-A home run. Rivera had one career Double-A home run in his first 84 games, before hitting three in the series against Altoona. He has hit safely in five straight games, going 11-for-22, and is batting .341 this season in 32 games with Binghamton.

RUBBER: Binghamton is 2-6 in rubber matches this season.

AT STAKE: Binghamton is 6-1-2 in their last nine series played, coming off a loss. Thursday's game will decided their final series of the season in Altoona.

JARED IS KING: Jared King has matched a season-high with a six-game hitting streak. He's 9-for-18 during the streak, his second of the year. King has driven in 15 runs over his last 19 games, batting eighth or ninth in all 19.

COMING AROUND: LJ Mazzilli is coming off his second multi-hit game in his last 17. He's batting .179 in the 17 games.

K-ROD: Josh Rodriguez is hitless in last 15 at-bats, with seven of them ending in strikeout. Rodriguez has still gotten on base, drawing eight walks and getting hit by a pitch over the five games. He was given Wednesday night off.

SECOND PLACE: The B-Mets are facing their largest deficit (2.5 games) since July 17th.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their road trip by beginning a three game series in New Britain Friday night at 7:05 PM.
