Chesapeake Baysox News Release

Bowie, Md. - Led by six strong innings from Baysox starter Joe Gunkel and a two-run homer from Trey Mancini, the Baysox rolled to a 6-1 win over Richmond Thursday night. The win also gave the Baysox the series win over Richmond and allowed the Baysox to conclude a 5-2 homestand. With the win and an Akron loss, the Baysox division lead is back to 4.5 games.

The Baysox got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the first inning against Richmond starter Tyler Beede. Glynn Davis led off with a walk and Mancini hit a line drive home run to left field to put the Baysox up 2-0. That hit extended Mancini's hitting streak to 13 games.

Richmond's Devin Harris gave them their only run of the game on a solo homer to left against Gunkel in the top of the fourth inning.

The Baysox added four insurance runs in the eighth inning against Richmond reliever Derek Law. Davis, Mancini, Quincy Latimore, Brandon Snyder, Mike Yastrzemski and Rossmel Perez each singled to bring home the first three runs of the inning before Pedro Rodriguez replaced Law on the mound. With the bases loaded, Rodriguez hit Garabez Rosa to bring home the final run of the game and give Bowie a 6-1 lead.

Mancini finished the night 3-4, with two RBIs and two runs, and Andrew Triggs earned his 14th save. The Baysox head to Harrisburg on Friday night to take on the Senators at 7:00 p.m. with Nick Additon (1-0, 0.00) making his second start for the Baysox against Lucas Giolito (0-1, 5.94).
