Akron RubberDucks News Release
New Hampshire's Conner Greene tossed six shutout innings in his Double-A debut, and Jorge Flores drove in the only run of the game with a single in the third inning, as the Fisher Cats bested the RubberDucks, 1-0, in the finale of a three-game series at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Turning Point
Cats catcher Derrick Chung led off the third inning with a double off Mike Clevinger (8-7). Two batters later, Flores stroked a single into center field, driving in Chung, and giving New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.
Mound Presence
Clevinger was masterful, despite suffering the loss. He worked seven innings and gave up only four hits and the one, solitary run. He walked none and matched his season-high with nine strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 2.91. In 23 starts this season, Clevinger has allowed two earned runs or less 15 times. On the Fisher Cats side, Greene, weaved six shutout innings in his first Double-A appearance. He allowed only three singles, walked three and struck out one. Greene benefited from three double plays turned by the Cats defense.
Duck Tales
Bradley Zimmer was 1-3, and finished 5-10 in the series, with three homers. Yandy Diaz and Jordan Smith also had one hit apiece for Akron. Diaz is hitting .310, and entered the game ranked third in the EL batting race.
