?AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Spurs (6-5), presented by SWBC, defeated the Salt Lake City Stars (5-6), 113-104, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Saturday evening.
?John Holland paced the Spurs with 28 points (8-16 FG, 3-7 3FG, 9-10 FT) and seven rebounds in 35 minutes. Nick Johnson (9-18 FG, 5-7 3FG) and Jeff Ledbetter (9-11 FG, 6-8 3FG) poured in 27 apiece with the help of strong shooting from beyond the arc. Ben Moore contributed a double-double of 11 points (4-9 FG) and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes.
Consistent shooting allowed the Spurs to jump to an early lead in the first half, where the Silver and Black went 63.6 percent from the field and 66.7 from beyond the arc. Jeff Ledbetter and Nick Johnson combined for eight first half three pointers, but Salt Lake City kept it close, and Austin headed into the half up 58-52.
The Stars were able to keep the game competitive, holding the Spurs to a single-digit lead for much of the second half. A late push by Salt Lake City closed the gap to 106-102, but the Spurs were able to hold on for a final score of 113-104.
The Spurs made a season-high 14 three pointers on 24 shots from beyond the arc.
?Naz Mitrou-Long led Stars scoring with 19 points (8-18 FG) and three assists. Willie Reed contributed 18 points (9-12 FG) and eight rebounds.
