Charleston, SC -- The South Atlantic League announced Wednesday that Charleston RiverDogs centerfielder Austin Jackson has been selected as a replacement player and named to the Southern Division All-Star squad roster.

The 47th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game will be held Tuesday, June 20, in Eastlake, Ohio. The All-Star game takes place at Classic Park, home of the Lake County Captains, and will be televised locally on Comcast Sports Southeast, Comcast channel 42 in Charleston.

Jackson joins RiverDogs teammates Jose Tabata and Cory Stuart on the 25-man roster for the SAL Southern Division team.

Reegie Corona, who was previously selected to the team, will not be participating in the game due to being on the disabled list for nearly three weeks and was replaced by Elvis Andrus of the Rome Braves.

"Austin has been an integral part of our offense, and his ability to get on base and advance around the bases has been invaluable to our team," said RiverDogs manager Bill Mosiello. "Defensively, he has come up with some great plays and I am happy with his continued improvement in the field.

"Austin is a guy whose natural abilities put him ahead of many similar players, and if he continues to learn and improve he will be a great asset to this organization," he added.

Jackson, a 19-year-old native of Lewisville, TX, was an eighth-round draft selection by the Yankees in the 2005 first-year player draft. A gifted athlete, Jackson declined a scholarship offer to play basketball at Georgia Tech in order to sign with the Yankees. The centerfielder is currently second in the SAL with 49 runs scored and his 24 stolen bases lead the RiverDogs this season. Jackson has started in centerfield for the RiverDogs in 62 of the team's 64 games this season, and is batting .267 with 12 doubles, 3 home runs, and 27 RBI. Coming in to the 2006 season, Jackson was rated as the fifth best prospect in the Yankees organization according to Baseball America.

The Southern Division, the visiting team in the game, will be managed by Rome's Randy Ingle. Ingle and the Rome Braves have been in first place in the division for the majority of the First Half of the season. The Braves placed a division-best five players on the Southern Division All-Star roster.

The RiverDogs are currently in the midst of a four-game homestand with the Greenville Drive. For tickets, or more information, log on to www.riverdogs.com or phone the RiverDogs at 843/723-7241.
