Dodgers Name Locke Player of Month for May

Columbus, GA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected Columbus Catfish LF Drew Locke as the organization's minor league player of the month for May. In 28 games in May Locke posted a batting average of .375 (42-for-112) with eight doubles, three triples, three home runs, 34 RBI, 25 runs and four stolen bases.

The Weymouth, MA native hit safely in 15 games from May 16-30 and was named the BC Powder South Atlantic League Batter of the Week for the week of May 22-28. He is currently fifth in the SAL with a .333 average, third 49 RBI and tied for fourth with 45 runs. For his strong first-half play Locke was named to the SAL Southern Division All-Star Team.

Each Dodger minor league manager nominates players from his team for pitcher and player of the month, with the minor league coordinators selecting the winners. Catfish hurlers who received consideration for pitcher of the month included RHP Cory Wade (2-1, 3.72 ERA, 29 2/3 innings, 28 strikeouts) and RHP Jesus Rodriguez (2-0, 1.96 ERA, 18 1/3 innings).

The Catfish are currently in Savannah taking on the Sand Gnats in a four-game series. After playing the Sand Gnats Columbus will travel to Rome for three games with the Braves.
