Tourists come from behind for victory

Asheville Tourists News Release
The Tourists offense were limited to just seven hits in the game, none of them for extra bases, the one run for Asheville coming with two outs in the eight inning - Daniel Carte's 30th RBI of the season, a line drive single to left field that brought home Jason Van Kooten. It was the only run the Tourists could muster.
But the scoreline does not reflect how close the game actually was. In a good old fashioned pitching duel both starting pitchers took the game through five innings without a run being registered.
Chaz Roe, starting for the Tourists, allowed only five hits in the first five innings. He only allowed one hit in the sixth too, but it cost him two runs. The inning started brightly enough, Kris Harvey flying out tamely to Travis Becktel, but then Roe allowed Andrew Jenkins to walk, and then during the next at bat watched Juan Figueroa crash the ball back over his head and over the center field wall for a two-run homer to begin the scoring.
Roe responded well to giving up the one-out home run, striking out the next batter, and then forcing the pop up to get out of the inning without any further damage, but he would not come out to the mound for the seventh inning, James Burok taking his place.
It was not to be a great seventh inning for Burok, as the visitors turned a 2-0 advantage into a commanding 6-0 lead, the four runs being scored off of three singles, a walk, and a wild pitch.
The Tourists did avoid the shut out in the eighth with Carte's RBI, but never got close to their previous late inning rallies, and the "Guaranteed Win Wednesday" crowd of 2,132 went home clutching their vouchers good for another visit to McCormick Field.
Roe (1-3) takes the loss on the mound, and in a quiet offensive night both Becktel and Cook had two hit nights (both ending 2 for 4).
