Savannah Sand Gnats News Release

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Outfielder Justin Maxwell, left-handed pitcher Brett Nyquist and infielder Alex Nunex were all placed back on the Sand Gnats roster prior to Wednesday's game, the Washington Nationals announced.

In corresponding moves, outfielder Michael Daniel, infielder Jonathan Castro and right-handed pitcher David Trahan were transferred to the Vermont roster, but will remain with the Sand Gnats through the All-Star break.

Maxwell, the Nationals' fourth-round pick in 2005, was placed on the disabled list on May 20 after suffering a stress fracture in his right second toe. Maxwell was batting .163 with a home run and six RBI at the time of his injury.

Nyquist began the season with Savannah, but was transferred to Double-A Harrisburg on May 23 before he was sent to Hi-A Potomac. Nyquist put together a 3-2 record with a 2.83 ERA in 12 appearances for the Gnats this season.

Nunez was fresh off a seven-game hitting streak when he was placed on the inactive list on June 2 to make room for infielder Scott Shade. Nunez is batting .239 with 10 RBI so far this season.
