
Captains rally for a 9-5 win over Legends

(Eastlake, OH)--Johnny Drennen had four hits and and Josh Noviskey homered and drove in four runs Wednesday night as the Lake County Captains rallied for a 9-5 win over the Lexington Legends at Classic Park.
The Captains (28-38) trailed 4-0 before scoring seven unanswered runs to take the lead. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Captains and did-in a five-game winning streak for the Legends (41-24).
The Captains pounded out 12 hits in the game, the most since last Thursday's 16-1 win over the Legends in Lexington.
The Legends' lead in the SAL North is now four games over Delmarva with four to play. Their magic number is two to clinch the division. Delmarva was rained out Wednesday at home against Lakewood.
The Legends jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on four consecutive hits to start the game against Carlton Smith. They extended the lead to 4-0 on Ole Sheldon's RBI double in the third.
The Captains rallied for three runs in the fourth inning against Sean Walker (5-4), and then batted around in the fifth, scoring four more to take a 7-4 lead.
Noviskey had an RBI single in the fourth, and cranked a three-run homer in the fifth. He was 2-4 on the night with four RBI. The homer was his sixth of the year.
Drennen, who raised his average to .311, was 4-4 with a double, RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.
Smith (2-3) outlasted the rough start to pick up his second win of the season. Mark Jecmen pitched the final two innings to earn his first save of the season.
In the wrap-up of the series and homestand on Thursday night at 7:05, Frank Herrmann will start for the Captains against Lexington's Tip Fairchild.
