Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Cyclones forward Mathieu Aubin's second goal of the night with 12.6 seconds remaining in overtime gave the club its first lead of the night in a 3-2 win over the Dayton Bombers. It was the 17th come-from-behind win of the year for the Cyclones.

It was the 13th straight win for the Cyclones-bringing the team within a win of tying the ECHL record for consecutive triumphs.

The Dayton Bombers opened the scoring 14:39 into the first period, when rookie Masahito Nishiwaki banged home his twelfth goal of the season-on a delayed penalty. Ryan MacGregor and Ryan Smyth picked up the assists on the score.

The Cyclones tied the game at 1-1, when Mathieu Aubin collected his twelfth goal of the season at 4:43. Aubin fired a shot from the left wing side from a pass from rookie David Desharnais. For Desharnais, it was his 16th straight game with an assist, one shy of the ECHL record of 17 set by Peter Kasowski of Roanoke Valley during the 1991-92 season (Oct. 26-Dec. 7).

In the third period, the teams exchanged goals as Mike Walsh gave the Bombers a 2-1 edge at 7:42 of the third period with a two-man advantage power play goal. Matt Syroczynski leveled the scores at 13:08 with his 21st goal of the season to knot the game at 2-2 and send it to the bonus frme.

On a power play, Aubin tooke a feed on the left wing side from Desharnais for the game winner at 4:47 of the extra frame. Jason Deitsch added the other assist on the game winner.

The Cyclones began their 13-game winning streak against Dayton on Jan. 16 in a 3-2 win. The club has outscored the opposition, 51-20, during the run. It is the fourth-longest winning streak in ECHL history.

The ECHL record for consecutive wins in a season is 14 set by Knoxville (1992-93) and Louisiana (2001-02).

For the first time in team history, the Cincinnati Cyclones are 30 games above .500, with a 38-8-3 record and sole possession of first place in the North Division-twelve points ahead of second place Elmira. The triumph gives Cincinnati a 22-2-1 record since December 15. Dayton is 22-19-10. The magic number for clinching a playoff berth is three and the Cyclones could clinch a playoff spot Friday night.

Cincinnati is next in action on Friday (Feb. 22) in a 7:30pm showdown vs. Johnstown at U.S. Bank Arena. Saturday, Elmira visits-also at 7:30pm.
